Microsoft has announced it will be hosting another event on May 23 and the event could see launch of the highly awaited Surface Pro 5.

The May 2 event by Microsoft saw the launch of Surface Laptop powered by Windows 10 S that will compete with Apple MacBooks and possibly Google Chromebooks. While it was almost clear the Surface Pro 5 will not be released during the event, the absence of Surface Pro 4 successor did disappoint many.

That disappointment won’t likely last long because Microsoft has now announced a new event scheduled for May 23. Microsoft has announced its next keynote event will happen in Shanghai on May 23rd. The company has even set up a new webpage that will help all those interested to stay up to date with the upcoming event. Until Surface Pro 5 is released, why not check out Surface Pro 4 deals.

“Microsoft will show the world what’s next,” Microsoft teased, without revealing any details of what we should expect from the May 23 event. One surpring bit is that the event is being hosted in China!

We believe the event could see launch of Surface Pro 5 because the launch of Surface Pro 4 successor is long overdue. There is a possibility that Surface Book 2 might also be launched, but consiering that the company has already released Surface Laptops, the probability of Surface Book 2 isn’t that high.

If the event does see launch of Surface Pro 5, the latest two-in-one might turn out to be underwhelming considering that Paul Thurrot suggested last month that the successor to Surface Pro 4 will feature Surface Connect power connector and Kaby Lake processors. Thurrot also said that Surface Pro 5 will not feature any dramatic differences over its predecessor. This might partly be because of Microsoft’s commitment to make the accessories for its previous generation devices compatible with its new hardware.

The strategy may be great to ensure compatibility with previous generation hardware, it could backfire if the buyers are not impressed by the retention of hardware design by Microsoft. Needless to point out, this is merely based on speculation. It seems like we will all have to wait till the official announcement by the company to get any further confirmation regarding the event but it will definitely be interesting to see what next is in store for us after the Surface Laptop, which was unveiled earlier this week. Until Surface Pro 5 is released, why not check out Surface Pro 4 deals.
