After £5 note making circulation early this year, it is time for a brand new £10 note. The note is slightly smaller as compared to the ones which were previously used but the phone is also equipped with anti-counterfeit features seen in the recent launch of the new £5 notes.

Mike Moran, director at Bank of Scotland, said: “Bank of Scotland has been issuing bank notes for more than 320 years, evolving our designs to pay homage to our heritage. With polymer notes being cleaner, more secure, and more durable than paper notes I’m sure our new £10 note will prove popular across Scotland.”

Focusing on the designing of the note, it will retain the portrait of Scottish novelist and poet, Sir Walter Scott. The image of the Mound, the historic head office of the Bank of Scotland in the Center of Edinburgh, will also be kept. The note will be published in the same polymer that was used as the plastic fiver.

The other anti-counterfeit feature includes ‘Window effect’, which will be built into the windows of the image of The Mound and the ‘rolling bar’ metallic ink which changes colour as you move the note. It will also feature a new ‘tactile emboss’, created by a by a series of raised dots, to help the visually impaired to deal with money and save them from getting duped.

There is a splendid surprise for the Harry Potter fans, an image of the Glenfinnan Viaduct – the monumental curved railway track on which Hogwarts express is shown to run on. The iconic structure helps carry the West Highland Railway Line from Fort William to Mallaig. This image will receive footage on the hind-side of the note. This railway track is cinematic in Harry Potter sequels for four of the movies. This image will have a bit of improvisation; a steam locomotive will haul a heritage tourist train.

The circulation for the new £10 note will begin later this year.
