Chelsea is Premier League champions after Mitchy Batshuayi scored to secure a 1-0 victory over West Brom.

Tottenham, who finished after Chelsea i.e second in the league, lost at West Ham last Friday and Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat of Middlebrough on Monday meant the blues needed three points from three games to clinch the championship.

Antonio Conte, Chelsea’s coach and manager had warned Chelsea not to be complacent. Conte wanted to score the trophy at the earliest opportunity. After multiple attacks and charging back to block the counter attacks, Hazard and Pedro were substituted. In walked Willian and Batshuayi as Chelsea sought a different threat with only 15 minutes to the final whistle.

Batshuayi became the unlikely hero after 82 minutes at The Hawthorns. And Batshuayi successfully convert with a few minutes to spare and sparked celebrations as Chelsea held on to clinch a deserved title. While, Batshauyi was not even among the substitutes at Monday’s match and is yet to make an official Premier League debut.

The Belgium striker, a £33 Million signing from Marseille last summer, made his 18th Premier League appearance off the bench and finally showed his poacher’s instinct, just seven minutes after he stepped on the field. Chelsea had dominated possession but the quality of their build-up strategy did not match up to the final ball.

The win saw Chelsea take an unconquerable 10-point lead over Spurs with two games to spare and claimed the Blue’s fifth Premier League title in 13 seasons. Despite leading the rejuvenation, Conte’s future remains far from certain. With Inter Milan coveting the former Juventus and Italy boss, he has a decision to make. He now has four consecutive domestic titles after three with Juventus and now with Chelsea.

Nevertheless, Chelsea will seek to complete a double in Conte’s first season by winning the FA Cup final against Arsenal on May 27.
