Aston Martin has decided to resurrect one of its most successful supecars – the DB4 G.T. – and will produce 25 track-only units of this car that will be continuing from the previous series.

First produced and launched in 1959, the Aston Martin DB4 G.T. turned out to be a winner for the British car maker as it won the Le Mans 24 Hours on debut. Out of total 75 DB4 G.T.s produced eight were lightweight models and Aston Martin has said that the 25 new DB4 G.T.s will be based on the lightweight variant.

Aston Martin also announced that the new cars will feature the celebrated Tadek Marek-designed 3.7-litre straight-six cylinder engine with two spark plugs per cylinder with an output of 340bhp through a four-speed manual transmission just as the original DB4 G.T.s.

The new 25 DB4 G.T.s will be manufactured by blending old world craftsmanship with touch of modern techniques to ensure that the cars are built upon original’s exceptional qualities while retaining its feel and character. The continuation cars will be blessed with improved engines, will offer superb handling, braking and safety system on top of all the other features that the original DB4 G.T.s offered.

Further, the new models will boast of VIN numbers that will continue from where the last DB4 G.T. stopped – Chassis 0202R – for an unbroken bloodline and impeccable Newport Pagnell-built pedigree spanning half a century.

The supercar maker also revealed that because these new 25 DB4 G.T.s will be built for the track and not on the road, it will be providing its customers with a complete and fulfilling experience through a special program created by Aston Martin Works. The program is a two-year international track driving programme held at a number of the world’s finest race tracks, including the spectacular Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi.
