One of the best electric vehicles out there – the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV – has finally reached dealerships in Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia with first few EVs already delivered to customers who had ordered them in December last year.
The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV delivers 383 km range on a single charge and that makes it one of the best long-range electric vehicles out there. While the suggested retail price (SRP) of $42,795 may look steep to some, but if you factor in the provincial incentive programs that provide rebates to customers purchasing an EV, the price of the 2017 Bolt EV will go down to as low as $31,434 (plus freight).
Bolt EV’s drive system uses a single, high-capacity electric motor for propulsion. The motor is capable of producing up to 266 lb.-ft. (360 Nm) of torque and 200 hp (150 kW) of motoring power. Combined with a 7.05:1 final drive ratio, that helps propel the Bolt EV from 0-96 km/h in less than seven seconds. Some of the safety features include ten standard air bags; standard rear-vision camera; available active safety features including Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Alert and Forward Pedestrian Alert; and extensive use of high-strength steel throughout the body structure.
The Bolt EV has won quite a few accolades including Motor Trend Car of the Year; Car and Driver 10 Best Cars; Car Connection Best EV to Buy, and Best Hatchback to Buy; The Car Guide / Le Guide de L’Auto Best New Car of the Year; Green Car Reports Best New Car to Buy; and Green Car Journal Green Car of the Year.
The deliveries mark an end of a near two-years-long wait ever since the concept version of the Bolt EV was revealed a couple of years ago. The automaker started accepting orders for the 2017 Bolt EV in December. As was planned the cars were delivered to customers in the three province and according to information provided by GM, the EVs will take around 12 months to be available for order and delivers across Canada.
