Recently, Matthew Perry (better known as Chandler) visited Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, where a fan called in and asked the actor about his Friends residual checks to which Perry casually responded, “I get a little something and I go- Hey, That’s nice. It’s a really great job I had when I was 24. It was amazing and it was a job that went on from 24 to 34, I’ll never have a job like that ever again.”
After listening to this, host Cohen diverted the conversation to Friends when Perry was playing ‘Plead the Fifth’. Cohen asked him to play ‘Shag, Marry, Kill’ and the options included his three female Friends co-stars. Perry responded to the question by pleading the fifth.
He also asked Perry about David Schwimmer’s (Ross) claim that some of the co-stars broke the show’s rumoured ‘sex contract’ to which Perry profusely insisted that he doesn’t know who Schwimmer was referring to. He added that he doesn’t recall any two of the cast mates to have ever had sex during the show unless he has missed something.
Once the show entered ‘Friends’ territory, a lot of secrets were bound to slip. Perry also revealed that there was one Friends storyline that he specifically axed. “There was a storyline on Friends where Chandler went to a male strip joint because he really liked the sandwiches there. I called the producers and told them to not follow this storyline.” His veto vote did make the difference and we never saw the sequence.
It has been more than a decade to the last episode of Friends but fans can never get enough of the show. Looks like it pays way more than recognition to be a part of one of the most classy and sassy sitcoms of all time!!
