Victoria Beckham received OBE from Duke of Cambridge in an investiture ceremony at London’s Buckingham Palace. OBE stands for the Order of the British Empire.
OBE is an award granted by the UK government and awarded by current king or queen to individuals who have performed excellent in art, sciences, public services and charitable efforts. 13 years after her husband, David Beckham, former England Captain was granted the same title for his services to football; the Spice Girl turned fashion designer received an OBE for her contribution to fashion.
Victoria was seen being driven through the gates of the palace accompanied by her husband in one car while her proud parents, Jackie and Tony, followed behind waving at the crowd.
Mrs Beckham wore a full sleeved, floor-length black dress paired with high purple heels and looked excited and chirpy at the ceremony. Victoria’s fashion line has made a modest debut at the New York Fashion Week in September 2008 with 10 dresses on display which received extremely high accolades. The brand has also won many awards like receiving the Best Brand accolade at the British Fashion Awards in both 2011 and 2014. She was also nominated for the Prestigious Womenswear Designer of the year gone in 2016.
Having transferred her skills from singing to designing, former Spice Girl Victoria is recognised for her work in fashion, most notably for her eponymous clothes label and its secondary diffusion line Victoria, Victoria Beckham.
Famous fans of the label include Gwyneth Paltrow, Claire Danes, Sienna Miller, Blake Lively and the infamous close personal friend Eva Longoria.
On receiving the honour she said, “It was an absolute pleasure to be at Buckingham Palace today. I am proud to be British; honoured and humbled to receive my OBE from Duke of Cambridge. If you dream big and work hard you can accomplish great things. I am so happy to share this occasion with my parents and husband; without their love and support, none of this would have been possible.”
