Manchester United is showing interest to sign Neymar Jr who currently plays for Barcelona and is ready to cough up to £173 million, reports indicate.

On top of the huge transfer fee Man U is willing to pay Neymar Jr £416,000 a week, to persuade him to join them. According to a Spanish newspaper Sport, the Old Trafford club is also willing to activate the release clause written in the Brazilian contract to introduce him to Premier League.

After joining FC Barcelona in the summer of 2013, Neymar Jr has developed into one of World’s finest players. Earlier this month at Camp Nou, when Barcelona registered a spectacular victory against Paris Saint-Germain, Neymar Jr played a pivotal role by overturning a four-goal first-leg deficit in dramatic style. He came back with a stunning free- kick and also managed to convert a pressure penalty during injury time.

United’s squad has drastically changed in the previous two years. They signed Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford for the youth team; they also signed global icons like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba. £173 million is almost double the existing United transfer record wherein the club got Paul Pogba for £89M last summer. The last time the transfer record doubled was back in 1968 when Juventus paid Varese £50,000 for Pietro Anastasi and Barcelona payed £3M to Diego Maradona in 1982 when their previous record was £1.75M.

Last week Neymar Jr had admired the Premier League for being amazing. He also said that he liked the style of play and of course the teams that participate are great too. He also allowed his feelings to surface by saying that he might be interested in playing at the league someday. He showed interests in the high-level coaches like Mourinho and Guardiola.

While he currently belongs to the terrific trio called The MSN [Messi, Suarez and Neymar] ensemble at Barcelona, if he considers to take the deal then he could be one of the three of Neymar, Mkhitaryan and Griezman in support of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

  1. If Manchester United do manage to sign neymar for £173m just like that then they could be one of the best football teams in the entire football galaxy

  2. They already have Zlatan Ibrahimovic. So, maybe! But the better thought is, do they really need Neymar? Even if they do sign him, will the team ever be as iconic as when David Beckham played for Manchester United?
