Lamborghini has announced the 2018 release of its luxury SUV – the Lamborghini Urus – revealing that the model will be available for purchase in 2018, six years after the concept of the car was revealed in 2012 at the Beijing Auto Show.
Pegged as the ultimate super athlete in the SUV segment the Lamborghini Urus is said to completely redefine dynamics and design in the SUV segment. The Urus packs unique design, a fascinating interior and outstanding performance with versatility and everyday usability says Lamborghini.
As an SUV concept with four generous seats, a versatile luggage compartment, variable ground clearance and, of course, permanent all-wheel drive, the Urus delivers unique driving fun with virtually no limitations. The interior, too, matches the standards of this super athlete with innovative materials featuring carbon fiber technology like the patented Forged Composite.
The SUV is said to have lowest CO2 figure of all comparable vehicles and with an output of around 440 kW / 600 hp, the Lamborghini Urus could help expand the brand’s clientele enormously by bringing in families and Lamborghini super sports cars’ customers who have so far driven SUV models from other brands.
Target markets are primarily the USA, the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, the Middle East and China. The annual production volume could conceivably be around 3,000 vehicles. Lamborghini has confirmed that it will be producing Urus in Sant’Agata Bolognese.
“This is a proud moment for everybody in Lamborghini. The introduction of a third model line endorses the stable and sustainable growth of the company and signifies for us the beginning of a new era”, said Automobili Lamborghini President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann.
