OnePlus is taking massive strides to ensure that its users are able to get the best of Android and in the process has released the first Nougat-based OxygenOS Open Beta 1 (N) for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones.

OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones will be upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat through this OxygenOS Open Beta 1 (N) and through this update it will get new notifications design, new settings menu design, multi-window view, notification direct reply, custom DPI support, added status bar icon options, and improved shelf customization among other things.

Users who are on previous versions for the OnePlus 3, will get the update over the air and it is incremental. The update has already been let lose and has reached a small percentage of users already and in a matter of few days it will reach all users.

OnePlus 3T will need to flash this build by ADB sideload. Your data may transfer, but there is always a possibility of losing personal data, so be sure to backup all of your important data before flashing this build. Once you flash the Open Beta, you’ll continue getting Open Beta OTAs. You will find the ROM here.

OnePlus is reminding users that the operating system is in beta and that it may not be as stable as the official OTA releases. Given that this is a shift to a brand new version of Android, there may be more bugs in this build than previous Open Beta builds. By installing this update, users accept the potential risks. Users using the beta release can always send across their feedback to OnePlus through the feedback system here.
