One of the best electric cars on the block – the Chevrolet Bolt EV – could be yours for a fraction of a cost of a Tesla for as low as $31,434.
General Motors revealed that the Bolt EV is now available for order in Canada with deliveries commencing as early as January 2017. To be initially available to customers in British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec, the Bolt EV will not be available nationwide from day one and will take up to 12 months to be available across Canada.
The suggesting retail price (SRP) of Bolt EV is $42,795, but factoring in provincial incentive programs that provide rebates for customers purchasing an electric vehicle the price of the car will go down to as low as $31,434 (plus freight).
Some of the features that are unique to 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV including more than 383 km of range; clean-sheet design with crossover-like proportions; and seamless Bluetooth connection with a smartphone when owner approaches the vehicle.
Some of the safety features include ten standard air bags; standard rear-vision camera; available active safety features including Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Alert and Forward Pedestrian Alert; and extensive use of high-strength steel throughout the body structure.
Bolt EV’s drive system uses a single, high-capacity electric motor for propulsion. The motor is capable of producing up to 266 lb.-ft. (360 Nm) of torque and 200 hp (150 kW) of motoring power. Combined with a 7.05:1 final drive ratio, that helps propel the Bolt EV from 0-96 km/h in less than seven seconds.
