There seems to be a huge bluetooth pairing problem when between Android Wear-powered smartwatches and iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus as thousands of users are reporting that they are not able to connect their watches with the flagship from Apple.
Users of Asus ZenWatch 2, Moto 360 2nd Gen, Moto 360 Sport, TAG Heuer Connected and Fossil Q Founder watches have been flocking social media platforms, Google Android Wear product forums as well as Apple forums complaining about the issues they are facing while pairing up their smartwatches with iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Google has acknowledged that they are looking into the issue and have even contacted Apple about the same and will resolve the issue as soon as possible.
According to information revealed by Google, Michael Kors watches, the ASUS ZenWatch and other Fossil watches aren’t experiencing the connectivity issues. No information has been revealed by Google regarding the root cause of the issue beyond the acknowledgement that it is aware of this issue; however, Apple is yet to officially comment on the same.
Users started reporting issues soon after they got hold of their iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus. From the looks of it, Android Wear smartwatches (as listed above) aren’t pairing up with the two new iPhones. The issue isn’t present in iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 10 and this indicates that the issue could most probably be a hardware issue, but nothing can be said for certain until and unless there is an official statement from either Google or Apple.
“I have a Moto 360 watch (Android Os 6.0.1) and I updated to Iphone 7 (ios 10.01.1) . Ever since I updated to Iphone 7 I have not been able to pair the watch with Iphone7. The watch workeed nicely with Iphone 6S”, said one of the users on Google product forum.
Google is requesting users of Asus ZenWatch 2, Moto 360 2nd Gen, Moto 360 Sport, TAG Heuer Connected and Fossil Q Founder watches to send feedback through the Android Wear app: Gear icon> Feedback > Send Feedback option so that it can collect as much information as possible to address the issue.
