The magazine’s latest collection of rankings puts Vanderbilt at No. 15, tied with Cornell University, Rice University and the University of Notre Dame. “We are honored to be ranked as a top eight Public Liberal Arts College, and I thank our dedicated faculty, staff and campus community for their many contributions to our students’ success”.
For Villanova, this is the first time the school’s been listed in the U.S. News’ national university category. In addition, BC’s Carroll School of Management placed 27th in the “The Best in Undergraduate Business” rankings of top AACSB-accredited programs.
Princeton University retained the No. 1 spot on the National Universities list followed by Harvard University, Yale University and University of Chicago (tied for No. 3), and Columbia University and Stanford University (tied for No. 5).
U.S. News also complies rankings for Best Value, Most Innovative and other categories.
On the best overall national universities list, which included both public and private schools, UCSD was ranked 44th, the University of San Diego was ranked 86th and SDSU came in 146th.
The rankings, which were first done in 1983, were created in an effort to help prospective college students assess the academic quality of colleges and universities.
But when the publication’s venerable “Best Colleges” rankings for American institutions was released this morning, UCLA was down at number 24 domestically and, lo and behold, USC edged it out by coming in 23rd place.
Along with the list of national universities, U.S. News ranks regional universities in the North. TCNJ ranked third among those colleges.
“In recent years, Providence College consistently has been ranked within the top five institutions in our category”. It gives student outcomes the highest weight in the rankings.
In the ranking of best colleges for veterans in the Southern region, Bellarmine was No. 8, WKU was No. 23 and Murray St. was No. 25. Robinson’s insurance and risk management program ranked fourth among the top programs in the nation.
